Acetylene Terminated Sulfone Resin Development.

Abstract

The object of this program was to determine the potential for forming highly reproducible acetylene terminated sulfone (ATS) resin matrix composites. A 450lb. batch of ATS was synthesized by Gulf R&D Corp. using a newly developed scale-up procedure. A complete characterization of the physical, mechanical, and thermal properties of the cured resin were carried out. Cure optimization and processing parameter determinations were completed and preferred processing cycles were defined for ATS prepreg and laminates. Finally, mechanical property evaluation were carried out on test laminates produced by the preferred processing methods. (Author)
