Laboratory Studies of Solvated Gas-Phase Anions.

Abstract

Cross sections are reported for the reactions of the solvated anions OH-(H2O) with CO2 and SO2 over the range of reactant translational energy 0.n15-25.0 eV (LAB). Reactions observed include solvent switching, collisional dissociation, and charge transfer. These reactions are particularly important to the ion chemistry of the earth's atmosphere below 80 km, where considerable hydration of negative ions has been observed. (Author)
