Fundamental Investigations of Superplastic Forming Processes.

Abstract

The elevated deformation behavior of Zn-22% Al alloy was investigated, with special emphasis on the micromechanisms of deformation. Constant strain rate data on flow stress vs strain rate at different temperature and with specimens with different grain sizes were analyzed. From this analysis the constitutive equations for superplastic creep, dislocation-climb creep, coble creep and Nabarro creep processes were established. Finally the results were depicted in the form of a three-dimensional deformation mechanism map with normalized parameters of grain size, temperature and stress as the coordinates. (Author)
