1981 Calibration of the AEDC-PWT Aerodynamic Wind Tunnel (4T) at Mach Numbers from 0.1 to 1.3

Abstract

The Propulsion Wind Tunnel facility Aerodynamic Wind Tunnel (4T) has been recalibrated. Measurements of the tunnel centerline Mach number distributions and tunnel calibration parameter have been obtained over a Mach number range from 0.1 to 1.3. The bulk of the Mach number measurements was made at a total pressure of 1,200 psfa, with other measurements taken at pressures ranging from 600 to 3,100 at selected Mach numbers. Data were obtained for tunnel wall porosities of 4, 5, and 6 percent over the entire Mach number range and for wall porosities ranging from 1 to 7 percent at selected transonic Mach numbers. Results of previously obtained flow angularity measurements in the test section made over a Mach number range of 0.4 to 1.3 are presented. Effects of honeycomb geometry and asymmetric wall porosity on the mean flow angles and on the standard deviations in flow angles are also presented.
