Some Human Factors Considerations in the Design of a Combat Rifle

Abstract

This report presents views on some of the human factors considerations in the design of a modern combat rifle. It draws upon testing and the experience of people at the US Army Human Engineering Laboratory who have been involved in small arms research and development during the last 25 years. A figure is included showing a hypothetical combat rifle configuration embodying desirable human factors characteristics.
