A Climatological Study of the AFGL Mesonetwork. Volume 1

Abstract

This study represents the first step in the development and analysis of an edited mesoclimatological data base of four years of observations by the 26 automated weather stations of the AFGL Mesonetwork. The first section describes the station network that existed during the period of operation, September 1972 through July 1976; the weather instruments that were utilized in the network; and the methodology of the data-editing routine. In the final section, the climatology derived from one year of data for half of the stations is presented. Selection of stations was based on topographic features or location in the network. Sites represented are located at towers, runways, swamps, valleys, hills and, finally, at the coast line.
