Summary of the FAA's Future Navigation System Mix Evaluation (Through May 1982).

Abstract

This document summarizes the activities of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is formulating preliminary recommendations for the navigation system or system mix that best meets civil aviation navigation requirements of the post-1995 time period. This activity is part of the FAA program described in the Federal Radionavigation Plan (FRP). The FRP specifies that a joint Department of Transportation (DoT)/Department of Defense (DoD) initial recommendation be made on the future radionavigation system mix during 1983 and that a final decision be made in 1986. The 1986 decision will then become the basis for future civil/military navigational system implementation. (Author)
