Field Test of Lifejacket Flotation Materials.

Abstract

This report represents the results and analysis of a field test program for personal flotation device (PFD) flotation materials. The field test was conducted at several boat and canoe liveries throughout the Eastern United States. The test was intended to determine if significant losses of buoyancy occur among various flotation materials when subjected to 'field use' environments and if so, to determine if the deteriorization process can be simulated in laboratory environment.
