Verification Tests of the South Coast Technology Electric VW Rabbit Pickup Truck.

Abstract

The South Coast Technology Electric is a standard VW Rabbit pickup truck that has been converted to an electric vehicle. It is powered by 18 6-V batteries connected in series through a transistorized field chopper controller to a 24-hp shunt-wound d.c. motor. It has a 4-speed manual transmission, disc brakes in front, drum brakes in the rear, and regenerative decelleration. It comes with an off-board 230-V a.c. charger with a 30-A maximum current rating.
