Proceedings of the Army Symposium on Solid Mechanics, 1982 - Critical Mechanics Problems in Systems Design, 21-23 September 1982, Bass River, Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Abstract

State-of-the-art technology regarding critical solid mechanics problems for designing various systems and structures used for military applications is reviewed in 27 Conference papers. The main areas of study were on shcok and impact effects; fatigue and fracture; fiber reinforced composites; and strucutural design. Nine of the papers, concerning the structural design of composites for particular applications (rotor blades, compressor blades and other weapon system components are of most interest to Plastec. Reliability studies, and non destructive procedures for quality assurance of these designed structures are also of interest to Plastec.
