Abstract

The Terminal Information Processing System (TIPS) and the Consolidated Cab Display (CCD) were analyzed in terms of air traffic control (ATC) requirements, system engineering, conceptual differences and similarities, central processors, software, and central processing system cost. In broad terms, this report outlines the ATC users requirements, what the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requested in specification form, vendor responses to the specifications and the recommendation to include flight data management in the CCD System.
