Communications Protocol Structure.

Abstract

This report is composed of three volumes. The first volume outlines the requirements and protocol structure for the Naval Telecommunications System (NTS). The second volume outlines the requirements and the specifications of the high frequency (HF) ship shore protocol. The third volume examines the issues related with the integration of voice/data. The applicability of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) protocol architecture developed by the International Standards Organization has been studied for potential use in future Naval Telecommunications Systems.
