Manufacturing Methods and Technology Program for Ruggedized Tactical Fiber Optic Cable.

Abstract

This report covers the period from July 1981 through September 1981 of the manufacturing methods and technology program for ruggedized tactical fiber optic cable. The scope of this effort, as reported herein, includes the following tasks and achievements: Obtained CECOM approval for Estane (R)58309 polyurethane jacketing compound, Selected optical fibers for 12 confirmatory samples, Fabricated 12 confirmatory sample cables, and Evaluated optically, mechanically, and environmentally the confirmatory samples according to the test plan.
