Characteristics and Needs of Navy Families: Policy Implications

Abstract

A stratified random sample of 2,126 Navy men and women with dependents was surveyed to assess the characteristics and needs of Navy families. Information was obtained concerning Navy family demographics, serious problems encountered by Navy families, differential problems of men and women, as well as officer and enlisted personnel, sources of social support and services, and the effects of family variables on reenlistment intentions. Family variables were found to have major impact on reenlistment intentions.
