Master Plan for Public Use Development and Resource Management, Lake Traverse, Minnesota - South Dakota.

Abstract

Completed in 1941, the Lake Traverse-Bois de Sioux project consists of two pools, Lake Traverse and Mud Lake, with a combined length of 29 miles. It is operated for the dual purposes of flood control land water conservation. The installation of water supply systems and replacement, vault-type restroom facilities are high priorities for the existing public use areas. To ease pressure on and restore wildlife habitat, wildlife management programs must be increased. Water quality is currently the most serious problem; it is recommended that the Corps eliminate grazing and/or farming to the lake's edge and establish a vegetative buffer.
