A Radiative Transfer Model for Undersea Optics Applications.

Abstract

Measurements of the differential light scattering cross-section in the ocean show that, while the volumetic differential scattering cross section dBeta/dOmega is highly peaked in the forward direction, the mean-square scattering angle is not small. Consequently, the many previous theoretical treatments based on the smallness of (Theta squared) are not applicable. (Author)
