Final Environmental Impact Statement, Rehabilitation of Locks and Dam Number 1, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Abstract

The project would involve the rehabilitation of Locks and Dam No. 1, which would include the work necessary to extend the life of the structure for 50 years without increasing the depth, width or length of the locks. This requires the complete rehabilitation of the landward lock and the partial rehabilitation of the riverward lock without interruption of navigation. The lock walls would be resurfaced and new machinery and associated equipment installed. Construction waste water would be pumped into the Minneapolis sewer system while solid wastes would go in sanitary landfills. Construction would affect wildlife.
