Mobilization Processing of Untrained Manpower.

Abstract

This study centers primarily on the three steps and responsible agencies in the processing of untrained manpower during mobilization: Induction and the Selective Service System; military service qualification and the US Military Enlistment Processing Command and its 67 Military Entrance Processing Stations; and processing for Initial Entry Training at Service Reception Stations. Each step and agency was examined to assess the adequacy of mobilization procedures and capabilities. In the process, other implications of mobilization processing were examined, i.e., transportation, revitalization of the Selective Service System, determination of service requirements for untrained manpower, and the need for mobilization policy and guidance. The study concludes with a series of recommendations for improving mobilization processing procedures. (Author)
