ULSTR: A Program for Estimating the Collapse Moment of a Ship's Hull Under Longitudinal Bending

Abstract

This report is a manual for the use of a computer program, ULTSTR, designed to be used to estimate the ductile collapse strength of conventional surface ship hulls under vertical longitudinal bending. The program is intended for use in the preliminary design stages and as such is approximate, being based on a variety of empirical solutions for the most probable ductile failure modes for grillage structure.
