The A-7E Software Requirements Document: Three Years of Change Data.

Abstract

A major product of the Naval Research Laboratory's Software Cost Reduction project is the software requirements document for the Navy's A-7E aircraft operational flight program. The document, which was first published in November 1978, is intended to serve as a model for specifying complex software systems. We have monitored all changes to the document. The change data have consistently suggested that the specification has several desirable qualities, for example, it is easily maintained and is remarkably free of inappropriate implementation detail.
