Flame Jet Drilling and Chambering to Great Depths in Crystalline Rock.

Abstract

A flame-jet drill consuming 34cu. m of compressed air at 20 kg/sq cm has drilled a 40 cm diameter hole in Barre, Vermont granite to a depth of 130 meters. With a cost of less than $10 per foot of hole it is recommended that depth capability be increased significantly. (Author)
