Underwater Shock Analysis of a Missile Launch Tube.

Abstract

This report documents the results of a non-linear, elastic-plastic, structural response analysis of a missile launch tube to underwater shock. The analysis was performed with the structural response code USA-STAGS. This code employs the finite element method for the structure and the Doubly Asymptotic Approximation (DAA) for the fluid-structure interaction. This analysis was performed in support of a General Dynamics/Electric Boat Division design development for an upcoming shock test to be conducted by the Navy. This report is intended to document results to date in this support effort.
