Pilot Effort to Define Improved Numerical Analysis Methods for the Handling of Moderate Aperture Acoustic Array Data.

Abstract

Methods are developed to represent an acoustic pressure field by a linear combination of modal solutions to the wave equation using a vertical, equally-spaced hydrophone array that may not span the entire water column. Techniques are developed to determine which of the (presumed known) modal functions are present in the representation and to determine the coefficient of each. (Author)
