A Methodology for Analyzing the Effect of Hydrometeorology of the Contiguous United States on GOES Random Data Collection System.

Abstract

A methodology and guidelines for the design of a randomly reporting network of data collection platforms is given. The system assumes the use of GOES satellites as retransmitors. A full review of the communication literature dealing with random and contention protocols is included. Also included is an analysis of extensive daily precipitation records over the conterminous United States leading to probabilistic statements of rainfall occurrence. (Author)
