Cryogenic Frequency Domain Optical Mass Memory.
Abstract
Cryogenic frequency domain optical memories based upon photochemical hole burning offer the possibility of storing data at densities of up to 10 to the 11th power bits/sq.cm. The basic principles of photochemical hole burning are reviewed. Recent results on recording materials, data reading and writing, and system configurations are presented. (Author)
