RITA/COMPASS Reference Manual,

Abstract

The RITA/COMPASS model is an operational search tool designed for use on a PDP 11/70 minicomputer equipped with the UNIX operating system (developed by BELL Laboratories) and the RITA system (developed by RAND Corporation). The model employs the RITA system to manipulate the flow and content of information between the user, the COMPASS programs, and the operating system. RITA is a set of computer programs written in the C programming language that can run under the UNIX operating system on minicomputers such as the PDP 11/70 and PDP 11/45. COMPASS is a set of interactive computer programs written in FORTRAN IV and currently operational on several different mainframes and minicomputers. The COMPASS programs were designed to meet the needs of the ASW operational search planner. (Author)
