Satellite Measurements of Atmospheric Aerosols.

Abstract

Analysis of NOAA-6 AVHRR data and ground truth measurements at Midway show excellent agreement between the satellite inferred values of aerosol optical thickness and the ground truth values. Similar agreement was found previously at San Diego and on the USNS Hayes in the Atlantic Ocean, suggesting that the satellite technique for measuring tropospheric aerosols has global application.
