Catalytic Reduction of Nitrogen Dioxide.

Abstract

The feasibility of using a noble metal catalytic reactor to treat the effluents from a scrubber or incinerator treating N2O4/NO2 at space shuttle launch sites and other STS facilities has been explored experimentally in the laboratory. The major objective of the test program is to measure the efficiency of reduction of NO2 at concentrations of a few thousand parts per million in an inert gas diluent to threshold limit value levels. The catalytic reduction is accomplished with an admixture of CO to the NO2 diluent gas mixture. (Author)
