Reverberation Research Overview.

Abstract

Prominent computational and theoretical approaches to the modeling of reverberation processes in the sea are reviewed. The work serves as a base line by documenting the work in reverberation since 1970 and the more didactic earlier works. One aim of the review is to identify the essential assumptions of the methodologies currently receiving attention. Additionally, the review identifies some areas that have been under utilized, e.g., zero and level crossing characteristics, and other areas that have benefitted from technological development such as echo-echo correlation and robust detection (Author).
