Environmental Analysis of Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana, Its Surrounding Wetlands, and Selected Land Uses. Volume 2.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to prepare an inventory and analysis of the environmental components in Lake Pontchartrain and the wetlands surrounding the lake in order to provide an information base and to indicate salient interactions, patterns, and environmental trends to facilitate future planning. Information regarding trophic state analysis, hydrology, hydrography, chemistry, plankton, nektom, and benthic distribution within the lake were analyzed. Life history and food habitat studies were conducted on 44 fish species found in Lake Pontchartrain. In addition, preliminary study of biological transport through the tidal passes within the Lake were addressed. (Author)
