Thermogravimetric Analysis of Silver Oxide Mixtures

Abstract

A method has been developed for the analysis of silver-silver oxide mixtures specifically as they occur in silver oxide cathode material. The method is based on thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and is useful in determining the Ag0, Ag sub 2 0, and Ag composition of a variety of cathode materials. The method has been compared with the Wagner chemical titration method currently used for silver oxide cathode analysis. The precision of the TGA method has been proven; however, further work is necessary to determine its accuracy.
