Stress and Coping in Recruit Training: Roles of the Recruit and the Drill Instructor

Abstract

This is the Final Report of a project carried out between September 1, 1977 and November 30, 1982. The research dealt with stress as a factor in recruit performance and attrition. The research focused on individual differences among recruits in their cognitive appraisals of task demands and their wherewithal to meet; development of televised modules directed towards influencing these appraisals, and the role of the training unit environment. Seven Technical Reports resulted from the project.
