Calculation of Transonic Potential Flow Around a Wing-Body-Tail Combination.

Abstract

An embedded mesh system for transonic flow analysis is described. The method has been applied to the finite-volume potential flow calculation of flows around wing-body-tail configurations. A local C-type mesh is fitted to a horizontal tail mounted on a wing-body around which a wraparound c-type mesh has also been used. Sample calculations for a modified A-7 configuration and another wing-body-tail configuration are given. The results show rapid convergence and excellent details of pressure distribution over the entire configuration in both cases. (Author)
