Abstract

The Marine Corps has an urgent requirements for field equipment that will enable Fleet Marine Force Chaplains to administer Command programs of religious ministries by meeting the religious, spiritual, moral and ethical needs of Marines in combat. In administering a program of religious ministry, a Chaplain must be able to respond immediately to Task Force (MAGTF) organizations for combat require that Chaplains be able to support Marine units under a multitude of mission profiles and climatic extremes. The IOC for these items is FY 1984. The current Chaplain's equipment, devised in the early 1960's by the U.S. Army, is extremely bulky and heavy and is not compatible with the rapid mobility of MAGTFs. The Chaplain's equipment will be used to assist FMF Chaplains in administering command/unit programs of religious ministry. (Author)
