Base Structure Annex to Manpower Requirements report for FY 1984.

Abstract

This Annex contains a report on the DoD base structure associated with the forces and personnel levels included in the President's Budget for FY 1984. The Annex has been prepared with the intent of providing an understanding of the scope, size and purpose of the base structure as it exists at the present time. The base structure is identified in this report by Military Service and regionally, by bases in the Fifty States, U.s. Territories and Possessions and foreign overseas areas. In addition to classification of the base structure, as part of the justification and explanation of the base structure, the major unit, activity or purpose of each separately identified installation is provided. Base operations costs for each Services, as compiled from the DoD budget process, are also identified together with an explanation of actions being taken by the Defense Department to reduce such costs. Proposed actions which affect the base structure and base operations costs are also highlighted and discussed.
