Entropy Interpretation of Goodness of Fit Tests.

Abstract

This paper describes a synthesis of statistical reasoning called FUN.STAT (because it is fun; functional (useful); based on functional analysis; estimates functions; and all graphs are of functions). UFN.STAT has three important components: quantile and density-quantile signatures of populations, entropy and information measures, and functional statistical inference. A FUN.STAT approach to the problem of identifying the probability distribution F(x) of a random variable X from a random sample is outlined. (Author)
