Analysis of Electromagnetic Properties of the Ground Stake Antenna.

Abstract

In this interim technical report is described progress to date in the following facets of an investigation of the electromagnetic properties of the so-called ground stake antenna: (1) formulation and numerical analysis of integral equations for the problem of determining the characteristics of a coax-fed monopole antenna in a lossy medium, (2) formulation of the integral equation for a cylindrical antenna which resides in two contiguous half spaces, and (3) development of the measurement apparatus and techniques for the experimental investigation of the properties of a cylindrical antenna which resides in two contiguous half spaces. The report focuses upon the derivations of integral equations and the development of associated analytical/numerical techniques needed to solve them efficiently, as well as upon the construction of experimental apparatus and refinement of measurement schemes needed to collect data for corroboration of results obtained from the integral equation solutions.
