Fiber Optic Multimode Development Study.

Abstract

A planar technology has been developed for fabrication of passive couplers for use in multimode fiber optics systems. Based on a previous study (F19628-78-C-0202), the masked ion exchange has been used for guide pattern formation. In this effort an optimization of the diffusion process has been attempted to maximize the fiber-to-channel coupling. (Author)
