Dynamic Response of the Hemispherical Containment Structure Subjected to Transient Loads at the R-9 Firing Range

Abstract

Large deflection elastic-plastic response of a 9m radius hemispherical containment shell structure .0254 m thick clamped to a horizontal rigid foundation and subjected to explosive blast loading due to a 29.03 Kg TNT charge at the center was analysed using a finite-difference structural response code, i.e., PETROS 3.5. The hemispherical enclosure is the most stress-critical structure in the R-9 firing range located at the Spesutie Island.
