Estimation of Variable Coefficients in Parabolic Distributed Systems.

Abstract

We present techniques based on cubic spline approximations for estimating coefficients (e.g., diffusion, convective velocity, etc.) depending on time and the spatial variable in parabolic distributed systems such as those that arise in transport models. Covergence results and a summary of numerical performance of the resulting algorithms are given. (Author)
