Competencies of Organizational Effectiveness Consultants in the U.S. Army

Abstract

The need exists in Army selection, training, and performance evaluation efforts to identify the critical knowledge, skills, abilities, and characteristics required of Organizational Effectiveness Staff Officers (OESOs), for successful job performance under a wide range of job conditions. For this purpose competencies of OESOs were identified that distinguish the superior performer from the rest of the OESO population. Competencies are viewed here as characteristics of an individual that underlie effective work.
