Muzzle Flash and Alkali Salt Inhibition from an Elementary Kinetic Point of View

Abstract

This report reviews the current state of knowledge concerning the gas kinetic mechanisms involved in the suppression of muzzle flash by alkali- salts. Elementary kinetic mechanisms are discussed. A potentially important apparent discrepancy between two laboratory measurements of flame inhibition is critically reviewed. Suggestions and recommendations for future work are given.
