Functional Evaluation of the Washington-Area Teleradiology Demonstration Project.

Abstract

Teleradiology is an automated system whereby an electronic representation of an X-ray image is transmitted via telephone wires from one location to another. Study of the performance of a teleradiology system in five hospitals and clinics in the Washington, D.C. area. The purpose of the study was to assess the utility of teleradiology in medical practice in small health care facilities that do not have a full-time staff radiologist.
