Unit Replacement System Analysis--Extension (URSA II).
Abstract
The URSA II Study is an assessment of the cost benefit, and sustainability of three alternative long tour and two alternative short tour company rotation cycles for mechanized and light infantry units. Questions concerning CMF-11 manning requirements were addressed by deterministic methods using linear programming and Markov Models. The impact of alternatives on individual career patterns and stability indicators were determined using a computer simulation. Study results include findings, observations, and insights pertaining to: Unit Strength Profiles; CMF-11 End Strength Requirements; Accession Requirements; Extent of Rotation; Expected Unit Files; PCS Movements; Dollar Costs; Promotion Rates; and Turnover Rates.
