The Salt-Gradient Solar Pond.

Abstract

The salt-gradient solar pond was modelled both experimentally and numerically. The experimental model used a small-scale tank with artificial sunlight. Both temperature and concentration measurements were taken. The numerical model used a one dimensional heat conduction model to describe the heating phenomena in the pond. The two models predicted the same type of behavior as that expected in full-scale ponds. There were small differences in the two models. These differences arose from simplifications in the numerical model. (Author)
