A Model of the Trailing Edge Separation on an Airfoil.

Abstract

A model of the turbulent boundary layer separation of a two dimensional airfoil has been investigated. The model consists of distributing sources on the contour in the separated region of sufficient strength to maintain the constant pressure characteristic of trailing edge boundary layer separation. A model for the attached boundary layer has also been included. An accurate estimation of maximum lift, pitching moment and pressure distribution have been obtained. A correct drag prediction has not been accomplished. (Author)
