Implementation of a Computer Local Area Network.

Abstract

This paper summarizes over three years of experience in implementing a computer local area network. A detailed description of the evolution of this network is followed by a list of lessons learned and conclusions drawn concerning future directions. The implemented network was conservative and classical in many respects. This is a technical paper written using a reflective and detailed style in the belief that some of the lessons of this experience may be of value to other implementors responsible for the nuts and bolts level of getting the job done.
