Aircraft Acceleration Sensitive Inertia Reel Lock.

Abstract

The Navy has designed, built and tested an aircraft acceleration sensitive inertia reel lock for crewmember positioning and restraint during eyeballs out (-gx) accelerations such as during an aircraft flat spin. The design is simple and retrofittable to many ejection seats. Centrifuge tests at NADC indicate the locking device performs effectively and reliably. (Author)
