Electric Field Processing System for the S3-2 Satellite,

Abstract

The Air Force Satellite S3-2 carried on board sensors to measure the intensity of electric fields encountered along its orbit through the ionosphere and magnetosphere. The data which is collected is digitized and stored on magnetic tape. Three software systems are described which access this data, together with supporting information such as satellite ephemeris, the local values of the Earth's magnetic field, and data from other on board sensors. Depending upon the particular system selected, the electric field may undergo various levels of processing. The results are presented as listings and computer plots. (Author)
