Use of Computers in Naval Mobile Construction Battalions.

Abstract

This paper reviews the use of the PDP 11/03s in the Naval Mobile Construction Battalions. The existing system was evaluated against the information requirements of the battalions and recommendations are proposed for hardware and software improvements and for the implementation of the new system. The existing system was found to be incomplete and inadequate in terms of both hardware and software. Information systems used in the private construction industry, while useful, will not satisfy all the requirements for a battalion. It is recommended that a new system be designed utilizing networking techniques and incorporating a data base management system. (Author)
